How Much Does an Architect Cost in New York City?
Transparent Starting Fees for Professional Architectural Services

Architectural fees shouldn't be a mystery.
Many New York City architecture firms don't publicly share their fees. At FAR Architecture, we believe in transparency, and we're happy to share our starting project minimums.
Navigating the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) is an extremely labor-intensive and time-consuming process.
Architectural services involve much more than preparing drawings. They require code research, technical documentation, professional coordination, regulatory compliance, and navigating the DOB filing and approval process.
At FAR Architecture, we provide integrated architectural design, construction drawings, and DOB filing services to help clients move their projects from concept to approval.

WHY SHARE OUR PRICING?
We believe property owners and business owners deserve a realistic understanding of professional architectural fees before beginning a project.
Thoughtful design, accurate documentation, and experienced navigation of NYC's complex regulatory environment require substantial professional time and expertise.
Our goal is to provide clear expectations and professional architectural services tailored to each project's requirements.

WHY ARCHITECTURAL FEES VARY
Every architectural project presents different design, technical, and regulatory requirements.
Fees depend on project size, complexity, existing building conditions, zoning requirements, occupancy classifications, structural coordination, energy-code compliance, and the scope of DOB documentation and approvals.
A small interior alteration may require relatively limited documentation, while an enlargement or change of occupancy can involve substantially more extensive design and regulatory coordination.

IMPORTANT PRICING INFORMATION
All fees listed are starting project minimums for qualifying small-scale projects, not fixed or guaranteed project prices.
Architectural fees increase based on project size, complexity, scope of services, and regulatory requirements.
Medium and large projects are quoted individually.
Engineering consultants, third-party expediting services, DOB filing fees, and construction administration may be additional unless expressly included in the project agreement.
Published fees are informational and do not constitute a binding proposal or offer of services.
